During off-season, sometimes wedding photographers like to flex their creative muscles and put together styled shoots. I put one together last year with great success and decided to do it again this year. I decided to host multiple photographers along with many incredible vendors at the lovely Historic Post Office in downtown Hampton, Virginia.
I planned the styled shoot in just over a month with the help of Queen Campbell of A Queen’s Touch Events. Queen worked with me on my previous styled shoot, and I knew I HAD to have her again. She is AMAZING at styling and planning and has the BEST TASTE in design…but most of all- She is 200% RELIABLE!!! Her work speaks for itself! I told her I wanted a donut cake, and she contacted Odoodle Doo’s to provide the yummy cake donuts and then she put together a pretty stand!
My vision for a boho glam theme was inspired after browsing Pinterest (of course). I wanted a light periwinkle blue tone to match my brand color, and lots of colorful flowers for contrast. If you know me AT ALL, you KNOW I love crazy bright florals that make a statement! I contacted a florist that I absolutely fell in love with after seeing her work at a wedding I second shot during last summer. Tracy from Sweet Pea Floral Designs totally knocked me off my feet once again once I saw what she had created! I gave her basic instructions for the theme and let her take the wheel on design. She truly amazed me. I will forever recommend her!
Since the Donut cake was the “cake,” I still felt like the dessert table would need a little more somethin-somethin. My friend Brandy with Southern Belle Sweets offered to make a tiered macaron cake! She totally delivered! She hand painted each macaron and they were FOR SURE the highlight of the day. All the photographers had a blast taking pictures of those beauties.
As for the models, I asked clients of mine whom I dearly LOVE. Amirah and Chad are an engaged couple and are the definition of my IDEAL CLIENTS. They are so much FUN! That’s always number one on my checklist!
The makeup artist was my bestest friend, Cara of FACE Artistry by Cara. She was actually the very first person I asked to join in on this project, because her work is phenomenal! Even though she’s fairly new to the industry, her makeup skills are the best I’ve seen yet. When I saw Amirah’s face after Cara was done, I was SOOO excited! She did a cool-toned smokey eye and her face was FLAWLESS and perfectly dewy!
Also we had Brandon Mitchell Films join in on the shoot! I invited him to get some footage for my super amazing branding video, and he also created a quick film of the styled shoot!! You can view it H E R E !
The styled wedding was a SUCCESS thanks to all the amazing vendors!
