A Fort Monroe maternity session.Read More
I first met Samantha when she ordered some cloth diapers from me. Oh wait! Did you know I also have a cloth diaper company? Well now you know! Samantha is a mom to two, with her third on the way!
We became friends on Facebook and I asked her if I could take her maternity pictures. She excitedly agreed as she’s never had maternity photos done for any of her pregnancies. I couldn’t wait! She ordered two beautiful maternity gowns and then we set up a date. I chose Ft. Monroe because of its versatility of great locations! Beaches, fields, trees, Historic homes- you name it!
When we arrived at the beach it was COLD. And to top it off, WINDY too! We got a few great images with her and her children before her mom took the kids to get warm. We started off at the beach and then drove under the tunnel to get some photos at other good spots. All in all, it turned out really well! Samantha looked stunning!
Here are some of my favorite images!
Hi everyone! Welcome to my first of many blog posts! I hope you enjoy reading and viewing my work!
Okay so yesterday morning I got up at the CRACK OF DAWN...no wait, EARLIER. I woke up at 5 am while it was still dark. Definitely grateful for coffee. Why you ask? Well I was invited to by Damien of The Art of Imagery to join him in his sunrise photoshoot with his friend and model Kisha. I didn’t know what to expect but I knew I wanted to learn from Damien. I have been following his images on Instagram and so glad I had to opportunity to tag alongside him and watch his mind work. Pure genius. By the way, follow @theartofimagery on IG!
So we started off our shoot before the sun started to peak and were using flash photography. I am still very new at working with a flash but I learned a great deal. Here’s a gorgeous photo I was able to snap with my external flash!
Pretty amazing, right?! Definitely grateful for Damien’s knowledge of lighting and for helping me achieve this photo.
So throughout the next hour and half I shot alongside Damien while he and Kisha worked hard at their crafts. I wasn’t sure how my images would turn out, but one thing I did know- Kisha is gorgeous, and she’s a natural talent. Most of her poses were her own and they came out perfect. I can’t wait to photograph her again. She’s a diamond in the rough!

I seriously am so in love with each image!
After the photoshoot, Damien showed me a couple of cool spots around Ft. Monroe. I even got a great snapshot before heading home for breakfast! I had a wonderful time and can’t wait to shoot at Ft. Monroe again! Waking up early was worth it! (Totally took a nap later in the day) 😜
